How Managed Moves helped her son find a career pathway that matched his interests and supported him to keep progressing.

I greatly appreciate what Managed Moves has done for my boy. It wasn’t about just putting him into just anything. It was listening to his interests and finding what career path included those interests and making a plan to achieve that. The bonus, supporting him along the way. Checking in, holding him accountable when required and after completing the course, came back to congratulate him, that was just last year.

This year, because my boy has chosen to go back and do the next level, his MMC has put my boy(young man) forward to receive sponsorship to ease the financial pressure for this year’s course. Which is an honour and we both greatly appreciate it. I see he is happy and has a lot more confidence in himself and that makes me happy for his future. Sorry I forgot, he also got his learners license as well. Nga mihi nui Managed Moves. I will always be grateful to have met you. PS when he’s qualified. I will make sure he hooks you up!

How consistent support helped her three sons stay engaged in education while strengthening the whole whānau.

I have been very grateful to have had the most wonderful workers that have been supporting my three sons. Without their support, my sons wouldn't be as settled as they should be in a learning environment. Managed Moves follow their progress at school and would contact me if urgent matterscome up, therefore I was able to focus on my recovering being a solo parent of 4 son's and 2 on the autistic spectrum.

I found the Managed Move Coordinators went beyond their call of duty and invested so much into their education and support me through the hardest time in my life. I could trust these workers with any worries or conversation as they supported us, especially myself, I never felt judged and fully safe with my true feelings as I struggled to navigate the system as I was becoming overwhelmed. So, I would like to humbly say. Thank you for all you did WAEC team. You were a God send and absolutely a pleasure to work with.

How the right learning environment helped her son build confidence, engage with learning and prepare for employment.

From our very first meeting with WAE Hub, staff showed genuine care and encouragement for our son. They took the time to understand him as an individual, which gave our whānau confidence that he was in the right place. Communication with teachers and staff has always been clear, timely, and respectful, and we have felt well informed and supported throughout. When challenges have arisen, the school has acted in a firm but fair manner, always with our son’s best interests at heart. The strong focus on wellbeing has been especially reassuring, ensuring our son feels safe, valued and supported. The learning environment has been thoughtfully matched to his needs, helping him to grow in confidence, develop independence, and enjoy learning both academically and through important life skills. We have been especially impressed by the way achievements - both big and small - are celebrated, which has had a fantastic impact on his motivation, self-belief, and willingness to challenge himself. Our son is now more confident, engaged, and positive about his learning as he prepares to move from school into training for employment. We are extremely grateful for the positive impact WAE Hub has had on our son and highly recommend it to other families.

Over the past couple of years the MMC's have helped my two boys immensely in getting them into the right area of learning. Organizing school visits, courses, research for alternative tutoring, completing and filling paperwork needed and giving them support and guidance they needed along with being positive comfortable people for my teenage boys to talk to. Checking in on them also over their time to ensure things are going well for all. One boy from behavioural problems, they found alternative schooling which has resulted in him now working as an apprentice for the past 2 years and doing great. The other with learning difficulties has been helped into a hands on learning course and also doing great. Thank you Managed Moves!

How tailored education and training pathways helped her two sons move forward in ways that worked for them.

The difference it makes when a young person starts enjoying education and wants to talk about their day.

I want to mention the positive feedback I'm getting from (my son) when I ask him how his day went at Alternative Education. This is huge for him to be sharing with me and I'm so happy he's enjoying being back at Alternative Education, Thanks to you & the team there I really do appreciate your guys mahi and doesn't go unnoticed.

How practical support helped her daughters reconnect with education, set goals and look forward to the future.

It’s been a long and tough road with both my girls for the past 2 years. Without your guidance and support my girls will not be where they are today. We are grateful that you were able to assist us in so many ways like engaging with education providers, convincing the principal of (school) to allow my daughter back, which has really helped her to have goals and working towards what she eventually chooses as a career path.

My girls have gone from hoodrats to maturing teenage girls with so much to look forward to. You have and are doing an amazing job with our youth and we will always be grateful for how much you have helped our family get back on track. Thank you so much
